Out of your Mind, into Your body Project - a Performance Workshop by Denise Uyehara
1:00-4:00pm
A performance workshop based on personal narrative and story telling for all. - A 3-hour workshop that encourages participants to tell their own stories, exploring group and monologue work. Exercises include improvisational work, body-based story telling, movement, narrative, mixed with song and childgood memories. This mworkshop is based on the ongoing RAD ASIANS workshop that Uyehara conducts in Los Angeles. No experience necessary but please come with an open mind and clothing that you can move in.

at The Loft Coffeehouse

Featuring the following poets (and,hopefully, many more!): Tyrone Wilkerson, Alonzo Augustus Jones, Fran Ringold, Manly Johnson, Nancy Harris, Tina Kyles, and Mary McAnally. Open mic after the scheduled poets read.

ONE-TIME EVENT: HAFLA (Middle Eastern Drum & Dance Party)

Ethnic dancers and musicians are invited to party at Bombay Dining with Lilik and Company, a world fusion dance troupe who will be performing at 7:00 p.m. After their performance, the dance floor will be open to everyone. We're hoping to get some ladies from Ngoma Uzuri to come out with their drummers, as well as Gypsy Fire bellydance troupe. No cover or minimum, great food, and children are welcome.

Ray McNiece, an internationally-acclaimed slam poet and playwright will perform selections of his work on Monday, October 28 at 7 p.m. in the Faculty Lounge of McFarlin Library. McNiece has performed his work around the world, including an extensive tour of Russia with TU Distinguished Professor Yevgeny Yevtushenko.
This event is free and open to the public.
